Soothing Jacket
Serene is a brand that aims to help young women struggling with mental health reclaim their lives. In their quest to help women with anxiety, Serene has done thorough research to develop a weighted jacket that emits soothing vibrations when it detects users are having anxiety.
1. Identifying the problem and the demographic it impacts.
2. The first step to trying to create a useful product was understanding what anxiety is, who are the people mostly affected and why, and how do people with this disorder cope or reduce their anxiety.
3. With more research, but still no idea for a product, new questions and potential solutions emerged. Used How Might We statements to think about what this product should be and how it can positively impact the women that use it
2. The best way to get insight on this solution was to interview women 18-24 yrs. who experience anxiety. Their input was valuable in both identifying the value of this product to this demographic and what features would make it more successful.
3. With research and interviews conducted, it was now possible to create an ideal sample user.
4. In addition to establishing a persona, it was important to map out how this user would come across our service and the benefits they would experience.
5. Further research was conducted on products also focused on helping people achieve a better state of mind. This gave insight on what features competitors lacked, but also which ones our product could benefit from.
6. Muse is a headband designed to analyze user's brain activity and provide feedback to help them live better lifestyles.
7. Komuso is a company that makes whistles meant to help people breathe in a way that relieves stress and anxiety.
8. Alo is a clothing brand that specifically makes weighted pieces.

11. In addition to the jacket, users would also receive a small handbook on breathing techniques to use with the breathing device integrated in the jacket.
